Amanda Breeden, MA, LCPC

Amanda works with adults & children 4 and older using play therapy & other creative therapies(music, art, movement, writing) for a variety of issues, ranging from Complex Trauma, ADHD, Social Skills, School-based problems, Conduct Disorders, Blended Families, Developmental Issues, Attachment Disorders, Foster care/Adoption Adjustment, Mood Disorders, Self Esteem, Anger, Grief, Divorce, and Parenting. She believes that parental involvement in the child’s treatment & healing is vital to success.

When working with children who have experienced trauma, Amanda draws from the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics(NMT), which is an approach to clinical work that incorporates developmental information to help the clinical process. This can be very beneficial in understanding the neurodevelopment of children who have experienced complex trauma, and results in a holistic approach to the child’s treatment. Amanda has additional training in Childhood Behavioral Disturbances, Reactive Attachment Disorder and Child Sexual Abuse.

Amanda also uses multiple approaches that are solution-focused to assist adults with a wide range of difficulties including, grief and loss, adjustment disorders, depression and anxiety, complex trauma, relationship issues, divorce, infidelity, marriage, attachment issues, stress management, sexual/gender issues and self esteem. She has additional training in PTSD, Severe & Persistent Mental Illness and Domestic Violence. Amanda understands that people are incredibly shaped by their biology, environment and choices, and that it takes one moment in time to change a person forever.

Amanda believes in the power of counseling and its success at different times in one’s life, whether for the purpose of personal growth, or to address more serious mental health concerns or problematic behaviors. She helps clients and families understand the process of therapy and that all people, children and adults, grow and heal on their own time. Amanda’s warm, engaging, perceptive, and casual style allows her to build positive relationships with her clients, while providing a safe and supportive environment to make positive, lasting change.
